Submitted By Brett Maue on Friday, January 14, 2011
Bob Turow, founder of "Prospects Tournaments", is pleased to announce that Danny Maue has joined the company as a Managing Partner. "Prospects" (the name the company is better known for) runs premier hockey events for both Boys and Girls in the spring of each year.
"Including someone like Danny Maue as a Managing Partner will allow us to service all teams, coaches and players better. It will allow us more man power to recruit even more elite teams and individuals to what is already North America's top showcase tournaments."
(Bob)
"To have the opportunity of becoming a Managing Partner in a successful and well respected business that is involved in Hockey, one of the two sports I was born and raised with AND have a sincere passion for, is something I couldn't turn down. With the full support of my family, I feel very fortunate to be working with Bob and Kelly (Katorji), along with ALL of the other people that have made Prospects what it is today, for this coming year and in the future!"
(Danny)
"I look forward to consulting with Danny, a very professional and friendly person. Prospects will be in great hands with his leadership"
(Kelly)
Danny Maue was born and raised in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and still resides there today with his wife "Margo" and 5 children...Brett, Ryan, Megan, Abbey & Carter.
Having known of "Bob" since their childhood days (Bob is a couple of years younger), Danny played in the same Kitchener Minor Hockey system at a high level for a number of years before moving west of Waterloo into the country for his High School years and beyond. He played one more year of hockey and then chose to pursue "Golf", the other sport that he was born and raised in and has a great passion for...
Hockey has remained a big part of his life to this day, Danny has two son's who are actively involved. He is a huge "Leaf" fan and has also been known to be a "Bird dog" through the years for a few successful hockey people.
Having some success playing Golf in his teens and winning a number of golf tournaments along the way including the 1973 Ontario Bantam Championship and the 1977 Ontario Junior Championship, Danny was also fortunate to win the 1978 "Canadian Junior Championship" by a whopping 10 shots! He attended The Ohio State University on a golf scholarship for 2 and 1/2 years, before deciding to follow in his father's footsteps.
FYI - Bob, as a kid, also played a lot of golf and participated in a number of the same tournaments...
Danny's father "Gus" has been a well respected CPGA "Class A" Golf Professional for 50+ years, many of those years at two of the more prominent golf courses...Westmount and Deer Ridge, both in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The family owned and operated a very successful golf course for 21 years just west of Waterloo called Foxwood...Danny managed it from day one for his family, his mother (Audrey) being a great influence and help during that time. They sold the golf course in 2003 to GolfNorth, a company which is majority owned by Jim Balsillie, co-founder of Research in Motion and the "BlackBerry",etc.
Gus was also involved in the sporting goods business for 35 years (Gus Maue's Sports) with Hockey and Golf being the two mainstreams. Through his many years in business, Gus had a number of NHL, College/University and Junior players work for him. The Maue family and especially Gus and Audrey, are well respected for looking after the great and legendary "Moe Norman" for many, many years until his passing in 2004.
FYI - Danny too, is a CPGA "Class A" Golf Professional and has been for 25 years...
